Pulmonary Hypertrophic Osteoarthropathy



Abstract
Hypertrophic osteoarthropathy is a syndrome, a triad consisting of clubbing of the fingers and toes, periosteal bone formation of the shafts of the cylindrical bones of the extremities, and a type of degenerative joint disease. When all these are present they are spoken of as Marie¢¥s sign group, after the observer who first drew attention to the disease in 1890. It is almost always associated with visceral disease, usually situated within the thorax.
This is a case of hypertrophic osteoarthropathy having a symptom triad of a 61 year old woman. X-ray study revealed a typical changes in all cylindrical bones.
